There are plenty of different ways to bet on NCAAF games, and US sportsbooks provide odds for most games during the regular season.

Here, we'll run you through some of the main NCAAF bet types that you can place wagers on.

NCAAF Straight Bet Odds

A straight bet is the most popular and most simplistic form of bet you can place on an NCAAF game. In order to win a straight bet, you need to correctly pick the team that wins the match or cover the points spread.

Before a NCAAF game, a sportsbook will create a line or a point spread in an attempt to even out the odds for the game between a big favorite and an underdog. For example, a much better team or a team that always performs well at home will be the favorite and the points will be spread to make the match-up fair from a betting odds perspective. The point spread odds make the game more equal for both teams and more entertaining for the bettor.

NCAAF Point Spread

The best team might be a 5 point favorite with an online sportsbook to win the game, so if you place a point spread bet on the favorite to win they need to win the game by at least 5 points for your bet to win.

How much you can win on a bet is defined by the moneyline odds. The moneyline is the positive or negative number listed with the point spread (-110 /+100). An example of standard NCAAF betting odds line looks something like this:

Oregon Ducks +4 (-110)

Washington State Cougars -4 (+110)

Wagering on the Ducks to win by more than 4 will return $100 for every $110 you wagered. Placing a bet on the Cougars where they lose by less than 4 will earn you $110 for every $100 wagered. When the game ends with the favorite winning by exactly 4 points the bet is a tie and you get your original stake back.

NCAAF Moneyline Explained

If you don't want to place a bet on the point spread, you can just bet on the final outcome of the game by picking the best moneyline odds. The moneyline is similar to the +110 / -110 number in the point spread, but the moneyline odds will be much higher or lower based on which teams are playing.

The favorite NCAAF team might be listed as -270, which means you will need to bet $270 to make $100, while the underdog could be priced at odds of +340, bagging you a sweet $340 from every $100 you wager.

NCAAF Total Odds - Over-Under Betting Explained

The second most popular type of bet is over-under picks. The sportsbook will publish over-under odds on their predicted total score and you bet on the outcome of the game being lower (under) or higher (over) than the bookies' prediction.

You are betting on the scores of both teams combined. If you don't like the straight bet odds or think it's a close call, you can bet on the total.

If the bookies set an over-under line between the Ducks and Cougars of 50.5, and you wager on the under, you need the final combined score of under 50 points to win, and it needs to be 51 and up if you take the over. So if Patriots win 32-21 and had the over, you win, but if you had the under you'd lose.

NCAAF Parlay Odds

Parlay bets allow fans to boost their odds by grouping multiple bets together. Bets can be across different markets, games, tournaments or even sports and can include huge numbers of selections, or “folds”.

Parlays are a great way to win big off a small amount, but the more selections there are, the harder it is to win.

NCAAF Futures Odds

If you are looking for higher odds and winning big, then futures is the right bet for you. The Bowl Series is the most popular NCAAF futures bet.

NCAAF Prop Bet

A prop bet or proposition bet is when you can wager on anything that happens in a game. This is a great way for someone who isn't really a gambler or doesn't care who wins, to place a bet to have some skin-in-the-game while watching a big game.
